Where Other Tools Stop, Lingollo Starts

Lingollo-French Writing
Lingollo-French Writing

ls like Duolingo, Grammarly, and others to understand what they do well and where they stop short. What I found was clear:

No one is helping learners write with confidence in French.

What the Market Offers Today

🟢 Duolingo

  • Fun, gamified lessons

  • Teaches grammar and vocabulary basics – No meaningful writing practice – Mostly fill-in-the-blank or phrase matching

🟢 Grammarly

  • Excellent real-time feedback

  • Great for polishing formal writing (in English) – Not built for language learners – Doesn’t teach; it corrects

🟢 Other platforms (Babbel, Busuu, etc.)

  • Structured grammar instruction

  • Strong for reading and listening – Writing is usually passive, not interactive – No feedback loops while learners write

What Lingollo Does Differently

Lingollo starts where others stop.

We’re not trying to be Duolingo 2.0 or translate Grammarly into French. We’re building a tool for learners who are ready to use the language and want help doing it right.

Here’s what sets Lingollo apart:

✔️ Writing-first approach — the core experience is writing, not quizzing

✔️ AI-powered feedback — real-time corrections on grammar, structure, and clarity

✔️ Theme-driven content — each lesson has real-world use (e.g., food, family, work)

✔️ Feedback that teaches — not just “wrong vs. right,” but why

Why This Matters

In most apps, learners are passive. They consume, they repeat, they move on.

In Lingollo, learners create. They write, get corrected, and understand why.

It’s the difference between memorizing and applying, and that’s exactly the kind of shift learners need to gain confidence.

The Product Strategy Behind It

This competitive gap didn’t just help me position the product — it shaped how I prioritized features.

Instead of chasing streaks, I focused the MVP on the one thing no one else was solving: Help me write in French and learn from it, right now, not later.

Lingollo doesn’t replace existing tools. It fills the gap they leave behind.
