Why I’m Building Lingollo

Why Lingollo

I’ve always believed the best products start with a real problem — one that’s not just personal, but shared.

As a French learner, I hit a common wall: I could learn vocabulary and memorize grammar rules, but when I sat down to write, I felt lost.

  • “Is this grammatically correct?”

  • “Did I use the right tense?”

  • “Would a native speaker say it like this?”

And I wasn't alone. During user interviews, I heard the same frustrations echoed by others. Learners felt confident during lessons, but unsure when it came to actually writing. There was no feedback loop—just silent uncertainty.

Grammar ≠ Fluency

Most language platforms teach grammar and vocabulary, but don’t support learners when they try to use them in real contexts.

That’s the gap Lingollo fills.

Think Duolingo meets Grammarly.

Lingollo is an AI-powered tool designed to help French learners improve their writing in real time.

It offers:

  • Instant grammar and spelling corrections

  • Sentence-level explanations to promote understanding

  • Level-based, theme-driven lessons (A1–B2)

  • Writing-focused learning — not just passive consumption

The goal: to turn uncertainty into clarity, and passive learning into confident expression.

How I’m Building It

To stay focused on learner needs and iterate fast, I’ve taken a lean, no-code, AI-first approach:

  • Bolt – for structured no-code platform

  • Custom AI feedback engine – to provide real-time writing corrections

  • Microsoft Speech API – to support pronunciation practice (coming soon)

This approach lets me build quickly while staying focused on quality, learning impact, and user feedback.

What’s Next

Lingollo is launching soon. Until then, I’ll be sharing updates every week—from how I structured the A1 curriculum, to what I’m learning about user motivation, retention, and feature prioritization.

If you’re interested in product building, language learning, or seeing how AI can drive practical outcomes, follow along.

💬 I’d love to hear: what would you want in a writing feedback tool if you were learning a new language?
